The Marriott City Center hosted a beautiful Tasting this past Tuesday. It was an excellent evening with a cornocopia of dining options. A select group of industry professionals added to the over-all feel of the event and helped guests to visualize the different options for their event. Elegant specialty chairs were provided by Classic Party Rentals, and the gorgeous floral arrangements on display were thanks to Lynette and Jessica of the Bloom Room. Ashlynn McCall and Traci Champion of Traci Champion Photography were capturing the highlights of the evening, while Edible Art provided the delicious wedding cake. The stylishly graceful custom draping, which brought a unique accent to the room, was provided by Sterling Events, the linens were thanks to Connie Duglin Linen and Ben from Shutterbooth had a cool photo booth set-up where guests could go to take fun pictures with lots of different props.
Split Second Sound provided the entertainment and it was a really entertaining night.
We set-up a powered speaker in the hallway/foyer, to play a nice mix of cocktail music while guests arrived and checked in.
Inside the ballroom we got things going with a nice mix of dance music. Guests were making requests and in no time there was a nice group of people grooving on the dance floor. We kept them moving to a unique blend of music that they were really feeling from funk, to Salsa, to traditional Greek music. It was a great night, thanks to the staff of the Marriott City Center for making it possible.
Ben and Andrea had a beautiful wedding at Firethorne Country Club. Julia and I played the music for the Ceremony,as well as the Cocktail Hour and the Reception.
Rich and Heather Becker of Rae Elle Photography were taking beautiful pictures throughout the night.
For cocktail hour we created a custom playlist of some of the Bride and Groom’s favorite music, mixing in classic lounge style Sinatra and Buble’ with some of their favorites like Van Morrison.
We really got the crowd involved for the introduction of the Bridal Party…Ben and Andrea chose Nickelback’s “Burn it to the Ground” (it’s got a mean intro guitar riff) for the introduction of the Bridal Party…so we looped the intro guitar riff… and the bridal party danced their way into the party ….Then for Ben and Andrea’s introduction, they chose “Laid” by James and we got everyone hyped and standing-up, as the Bride and Groom made their grand entrance.
We made a custom playlist for their dinner as well, mixing in some Jack Johnson with Sam Cooke, Tom Petty, Led Zepplin and U2 among others, we even through in a few crowd requests during dinner, like a little Conway Twitty.
Then as soon as we finished the formalities we jumped right into the partying, getting everyone involved and dancing. They had a great time dancing to everything from the Temptations to Ke$ha.
On Thursday 3.18.2010 Split Second Sound provided the music and entertainment for a networking event hosted by the Lake Norman Chamber of Commerce at Ballas Chiropractic. It was a great event with plenty of food and drinks, and Split Second Sound playing the tunes to help people unwind and enjoy the laid back atmosphere. We brought out our crew, played some great music, met some incredible people, and even got people dancing in the parking lot!
The staff at Ballas Chiropractic recommended Split Second Sound to appear at this event, because they had a booth next to ours at the Bridal Showcase this past January. They saw us having such a great time dancing and playing music all while meeting and networking with people, the they, the Ballas team, decided to hire Split Second Sound as the entertainment for their event.
The Lake Norman Chamber of Commerce networking event was a great opportunity to meet like minded people and build relationships, especially for people working in the Mooresville, Huntersville, Lake Norman and Davidson areas. This was a great event, and we look forward to doing many more jobs throughout the Lake Norman region. To see more picture from this event check out Split Second Sound’s pictures on Flickr.
Split Second Sound now features a specially selected and professionally trained dance team. The dance team started as an idea to provide a level of entertainment that hasn’t been seen in the Carolina’s, until now. It began with the try-outs, we held a casting call, and out of the many responses, we narrowed it down to the best of the best. The Split Second Dancers are available as a full team, in smaller groups, and individually, making them great for entertaining, and as party motivators. The Split Second dancers are the perfect way to set-your event apart, and provide your guests with a truly remarkable experience.
On Thursday August 6th, 2009 Split Second Sound DJ’ed at the Passion for Fashion show, which was held right here in the Queen City and featured new styles from Kate Lyons, Tara Davis and Korto Momolu. Korto was the runner-up on Season5 of Project Runway, and her part of the show included traditional African dancers and drummers. There were plenty of photographers on the scene, snapping photos, as the models did their little turns. Matt Francis of Dreamlight Films and his crew of videographers captured all of the action on film, and Split Second Sound kept the beats pumping throughout the evening. The clothes were cutting edge, the music was hot, the models were beautiful, and the designers were happy. The above video gives a taste of everything that went on at the show.
The Split crew got together on location to film with KA Studios. Keith and Amie brought out the big guns… HD cameras, booms, and steady cams, to get the best footage, of our team of DJ’s, Dancers and MC’s. The shoot started out normal enough, but the next thing we knew, we were all hiking through dense jungle, over train tracks and trussels to a hidden, top-secret spot. KA did their professional film thing and Split Second well, we got our shine on. Take a look at some of the behind the scenes shots.
The 2009 NACE Conference was held right here in Charlotte, NC and was based out of the Westin in Uptown. There was plenty of food and entertainment, and Split Second had the opportunity to be a part of it all. On Monday morning 7.2.7.2009. Split provided the music and announcements for a demonstration wedding, complete with a preacher and several ”wedding couples” . The entire outside hall area was decorated as the different stages of a wedding from the ceremony, under a full portico through to the reception.
Then Monday night there was a huge Morrocan themed party at Center Stage in NoDa. Specatcular doesn’t even come close to describing it. There was a giant python provided by Exotic Reptile Parties that (the brave) guests could hold and pet. There were fire throwers and Belly Dancers from…., not to mention, extensive decorations and lighting that converted Center Stage into what looked like a palace straight out of “10001 Arabian Nights”. During this time, while the Belly Dancers danced, the pythons amazed, and the firethrowers threw, Split Second was spinning Middle Eastern based music mixed with ambient beats adding to the whole Moroocan Night theme, while guests mingled and enjoyed the delicious lay-outs of plentiful food. The main event was Simply Irresistible, brought in from Atlanta by East Coast Entertainment, and they rocked the house. After they played their last set Vinny, came on and pumped the jams for the rest of the night. Over the top, great event.
24 Hours of Booty, “an event that increases public awareness, funds, and support for the Lance Armstrong Foundation and local cancer organizations” takes place annually here in Charlotte along the Booty Loop. This year there were thousands of participants and volunteers. It was a huge event and Split Second Sound was glad to be a part of it. Split Second Sound provided DJ’s for the 24-hours while the bikers toad, volunteers handed out drinks, and tired participants rested.. Our DJ’s were played music from 3:30pm on Friday July 24th, thruogh 7pm July 25th. The event this year raised over $875,000! Here’s a quick little clip from 24-Hours of Booty, and Split doing our thing!
Over the past year Split Second Sound has been working on putting together different packages to accomodate a wide range of events. Now Split has the ability to provide the type of entertainment most people are only accustomed to seeing in larger markets like New York, Atlanta and Miami. To highlight Split’s capabilities, Vinny put together a demonstration for the members of ISES at Suite earlier in July. We wanted to showcase a sample of what Split provides, from the DJ’s and MC’s, to the dancers and interactive party motivators. There’s a focus on the entertainment with the dancers doing a quick routine in the beginning, and then we demonstrated our skills at encouraging everyone to get involved with the party and enjoy themselves. Here’s a taste of that exhibition.
Split Second Sound has been performing Bar and Bat-Mitzvah’s for years. Recently we’ve really stepped up our entertainment packages and thought it would be a good idea to let everyone see some of the new interactive aspects. A few months ago we put together a Bar-Mitzvah that showcased what Split Second offers, such as a real rock-band (in this video it’s Hot Sauce), that the guests can sing along with and rock-out with, playing the real instruments on-stage with the band. Split Second Sound also features a team of high-energy dancers, party-motivators, DJ’s and MC’s, as well as games, props and prizes. Take a look!
